I know slick paper has clay content. I use a wad of newspaper to light my furnace and got into a Sunday supplement slick magazine. Three sheets so far, and they have persisted, hard and crunchy, and I know they get to around 3,000F by the color when hot. Maybe I can make a furnace out of newspaper and plaster.

Yeah, this stuff has been surprisingly persistent, several firings on oil and no sign of deterioration.
They sell paper to be placed on kiln shelves to keep your junk from sticking.. Dont tell the kingofbullshit. Newpaper with alumina content? Sounds expensive.
Sounds like the kaolin clay used to give the paper a glossy finish, when I used to repair photocopiers there was a school with a $17K photocopier that used a cheap recycled paper to save a few dollars. The paper had so much kaolin clay over normal copier paper that it used to shed it as a fine abrasive dust that slowly destroyed one way roller clutches and oillite bearings, anywhere two surfaces rubber together.
