Here is what OldF is talking about. Just a piece of sheet metal bent to slip over where the sprue is. And the reminder when pouring plaques.

GREAT!!!! I know all the foundries in Houston! I don't go out to the warehouse often. But, I would love to meet you there and show you this plus more.
Eugene, What do you get for the quoted price? Is that a cope and flask set? And, sorry, I don’t understand the fractions like “6/7” in the list above. Denis
Those are not fractions, sections is a single cope or drag and those numbers are the height size of the sections. A 12 x 16 6/5 is a complete flask with a six inch over five inch. I don't have a photo but you can't see much as the flasks are stacked in a corner. They have been sitting around for some time. I bought Lincoln Metals in Ala and the Royal Brass product line. That's where the flasks came from. I also still have 100+ matchplates from there. I actually have a photo of each individual matchplate. Over the years I probably sold or gave away a dozen to be displayed as artwork. They do make for nice conversational pieces. The only photo I found is of a 24 x 24 flask.
So, I guess the flasks are used and, if the ones shown are any indication, not necessarily matched. I am saying that based on the non/matching trunnions on the flasks shown. Maybe that is why the ones shown don’t have guide pins? Denis
Yes, the flasks are all used. This was not a good example nor a good photo. This flask has trunions. One day soon I will get better photos.
I managed to get one out. It is a Hines 14 x 18 4/6 double pins. It would look 20xs better if I had spent 1/2 hour cleaning it.
