I use a "proprietary" blend (read "cheapskate") of wax that I buy at a local art supply & any wax I stumble across at home. I.e. cheese wax, old candles. I also have some legit carving wax by Freeman & Ferris. This website can give you an idea where to buy. http://freemanwax.com/where-to-buy.html
The wax best suited to your needs depends upon what you are doing. For lost wax investments you need a wax that does not expand and contract much. I use a microcrystalline wax I buy from Arizona Sculpture made by McLaughlin called 2-AB-150. http://arizonasculpture.com/wax/
I just recently asked a similar question. Fair bit of info in there. http://forums.thehomefoundry.org/index.php?threads/what-wax-are-you-using.439/
http://www.myheap.com/casting-moldi...man-charity-waxes.html?highlight=WyJ3YXgiXQ== This is some good info on some homemade wax recipes from hard to soft waxes. This site has a lot of great info on a lot of things. Kurtis, I sent you a PM also.
Here's a "I wonder what happened to" post. Kurtis was on here and them disappeared. I sent a couple PMs but no answer.
Yeah I have been super busy. My cross commition has been extended way out so I have been taking my time. Not to much time for casual web browsing. I appreciate you looking out for me in the community.
