Since watching Old Foundryman on Youtube and gleaning good advice from this forum I have changed my method of pouring, gating and come to understand the importance of risers. These thermostat housings have a much better finish than my originals and using a pattern-plate, instead of cutting the runners, seems to have stopped the minor wash problems I sometimes used to have. Thank you to everyone who posts useful tips and links, Cheers Charlie
