Your posted picture is exactly what it looks like around Buffalo right now, for the past couple weeks, and probably for the foreseeable future. By all accounts it's been mild so far. The first week of February is usually when we dip below 15F and stay down there for a solid week or two. That's where we're at now.
This was London Ontario yesterday morning. Several years ago, I posted a similar picture on AA in a thread called "Crazy lake effect weather" and that's what this snowfall was too, a thin snow streamer off of Lake Huron sat over London all night long and dropped this, 20 miles to east or west, there was no snow.
