FYI, I grabbed these under "metal ball cake decorating tools" online. They seem to work well. My first time messing with wax fillets. Way more fun than bondo or water putty! Jeff
Those work well but I bet you'll tire of those elastomer sleeves and cut them off with more use. Now you need to buy/make yourself some scrapers to match those diameters. After you lay the fillet with the ball, follow with the scraper and it cleans it all up nicley whether wax or bondo. For the latter, a finish wipe with a cloth wetted with acetone does a nice job. I only use wax on master patterns and temporary stuff, except lost foam of course. It wont stand up for ramming and hot sand but if you lacquer over it you might get a few cycles. In fact, I have a lot of pattern makers wax fillet. It's nice to work with. If you want to experiment I'll send you a care package. Best, Kelly
for small work you just dont need the Scrapers , steel wool will get in more places , but if you are doing BIG patterns/big fillets scrapers are great( the steel wool fills up with wax.) if you are doing large enough pieces, leather fillets are the Bomb, but that is pretty much out of the Hobbiest scope Kelly does some big(nice) pieces, I refuse, too hard on the back handling that much sand, Yeah yeah, I'm a wimp V/r HT1
