Over the past couple of months I’ve been slowly building up a new furnace (Aluminum) from an old propane tank. I’m copying Rocketman (https://forums.thehomefoundry.org/index.php?threads/show-me-your-lids-please.2636/ Post #14) for the lid and decided to go low mass over concerns with stability when I swing it over and thought the lighter the better.

My wife doesn’t particularly like chilly but makes a great one. The other day she’d asked me to open a couple of cans for her and while doing so I thought “this can is about the same size as the vent in my lid (4in)” so I opened one on the side. Not the way to open a can, you get a very nasty sharp edge but it cuts Kaowool like butter leaving a nice clean hole.

Brilliant! I use food cans of all sizes for many different things. Tuna cans make good plinth molds.

We have a certain can opener that cuts under the lip of the lid, basically making an extremely sharp top edge. It's good for making biscuit cutters, :)
