I probably shot a dozen 1 pounders over the years. .22 at 20 yards, no problems.

Can somebody please shoot a 20lb tank with a .308 and take pics? I would do it if I were at my ancestral home but here in urban Charlotte they would frown on it.

  4. Try Mythbusters....the tank was a lot larger and they ended up using a tracer bullet to get ignition.

If I were to shoot through a 20 pounder I would probably lay it on its side and shoot through the bottom and out the top. I think it would be less likely to wreck the container. I've tried and failed to get the valve off an old tank and gave up. I actually bought a new empty tank and was able to get the valve off. If I ever need one again I'll probably shoot it. .30-06 would do I'm sure. I've yet to see one on YouTube burn without help.
