Hey Jeff... Tonight I finished the welding work and bronze chasing and final blasting.... I hope to be sending your stuff back to you in a couple of days. Here's how I would like this to end if you would please entertain me... I'd like to finish up soon and mail everything back to you. I am working on editing part 4 of this journey now. However, I will not release the final photos or the video until you see the finished pieces. You must however, promise to film the unboxing and post it on youtube! After you upload your video, I'll post part 4 and the final photos. Sound like a deal brother? I'll even patina the dogs and light switch cover if that's okay with you the same look as the rose..?? Only OCD has seen a couple of snap shots of the work today and I know he wont show them. This has been a GREAT learning experience for me on many avenues... Once upon a time, I was afraid to work on the cast bronze piece. (except that puny light switch cover!) If there is an issue, the tig machine and some bronze filler wire is your friend. Build it up, grind it down! After the piece sees the blast cabinet, your sins literally disappear. Next thing I learned... I have really GOT to invest in some damn carbide grinding bits... little trees, wheels, cones, burrs, etc. I own a dremel so that means sanding drums and ONE carbide tiny tree. Not good enough. Next, I have to nail down a pouring temperature. That will come with more practice. Last... #6 crucible is a JOKE, too small! For now, it's back to work on shotcut. I had 30 clips from just today. I do not want there to be a part 5! Jason
The dogs have arrived in Canada. The final video part 4 is finished and sitting up on youtube. It's actually just 30mins long. I'll release it as soon as Jeff opens the box for us!
The box is open and the bronzes are incredible! I filmed the unboxing as requested. Can't wait to show you all what Jason can do. Film needs a tiny bit of editing and I was gonna also film a scene comparing the shell cast dogs and switch cover to my failed sand cast ones as well, hope to have it ready and uploaded asap, if not tonight then sometime tomorrow. Jeff
Yes it was. It should help a few folks that decide to take the plunge into this or realize early on that it is a ton of work! Now people will understand why bronze artwork is so expensive. The dogs is only about 6bucks of bronze, but in terms of hours of labor???? I don't want to know.
They came out great! Good work Jason. Hmmm strange address you have there Im getting ready to shell up your present roflmao
And I thought this project was done... lol Still gotta finish these frames. Worked a stand setup tonight. I welded 2 big bronze blobs on the back and shaped and drilled them for some bronze rod. Now it stands.
Gotta get the anchor poured... Then it's back to the big gas lanterns.. I'm still pissed I missed those spooky candle holders. They would have looked cool in our house. I could never make those. Not talented enough.
