I've been casting for a few years now and I do lost PLA/resin vacuum casts and ceramic shell casts. I mainly cast with silicon bronze to make sculptures and art, but I also occasionally cast simple pieces of jewelry too when inspiration strikes.

I got started learning to metal cast when I had a lot of trouble attempting to make copper plated art pieces with electroplating and decided to just give casting a shot, which ended up being a lot more up my alley.

New to the forum from the top of NZ, not new to metalcasting.

Signed up mostly to see the pics you good people have posted, and to collect info and advice on casting iron. I have previously melted aluminium and cuprous in a homebuilt castable-refractory furnace with a kwiky burner, all greensand moulding.
I realise that's a bit like going from riding a tricycle to a hayabusa, but I'm pretty confident.

My problems are a few... my crucibles aren't large enough for the iron...

I am so excited to be here and learn and create.
I build custom guitars and of course it makes sense to build my own parts when possible.
I have a CNC machine and an 8Kg propane furnace and many ideas.

Below is a render of a build I'm in the middle of. I have designed a new tremelo and cant wait to cast it using the lost foam method.
