Several years ago, I helped a friend of mine do a bit of anodizing, in my jurisdiction at least, sulfuric acid is treated as somewhat of a controlled substance and can be little bit difficult for the average person to source, we got it through my mechanic. Since then I've found out it's possible to anodize without sulfuric acid, you can use a Sodium Bisulfate solution instead, that's sold as swimming pool pH reducer.

Do you suppose the disk filter in the middle is the same material as the cores? Never thought of making my own filters...hummm... Unless it is not a filter? Rather it serves as a point of weakness? For breaking down the runners and gates with only a hammer?
