Does anyone have experience with NG burners? I'm working through whether to hook one up at home, and the requisite equipment. Next furnace is running propane, but I've only got a 40 lb tank and am hoping to begin melting daily. Thanks.
I use a NG burner. Master54Yoda (Art) is the expert though. Thanks Mach. Mostly just trying to understand what's necessary to do it, both for safety and execution. I'll dig through the linked threads and see what I can come up with. Preston
Yes, I have. I made one myself for forced air and NG, just like my propane burner, but with a larger orifice. It melts 500g copper, silver and bronze within 20-30 minutes on a residential (30 mbar which is common in the EU) gas outlet.
Here a few photos, as I melted a small quantity of aluminum bronze in a mini furnace in my fumehood. Gets blazingly hot (> 1200 C) within 20 minutes.
