Anyone used adobe for casting ?

    I live in NM, lots of adobe/clay available. It will pack tight, just wondered if it would work in
    lieu of green sand if it had fine sand , got lots of that here, mixed in. It can be fired so maybe
    would stand the heat. Maybe even use for certain lost wax.

    Just an idea,,,

    I remember a video awile back ugg can't remember the name... Duncre???
    Something like that....
    I'm sure the guys here will figure it out... lol

  3. Olfoundryman on Youtube mentions he uses naturally occurring clay-sand mix mined locally in Sydney if I recall correctly.

    John, here's the link to Martins' video of him processing his natural occurring sand into facing sand.
    I suggest subscribing to his channel and watching as many as you can.
    If you want to remove the larger sand grains from your natural sand, winnowing will be the fastest process.
    Spread a tarp, set a good fan on a chair, pour your sand onto a board above the fan and let it bounce into the air stream.
    It will classify the sand with the finest being farthest away.
