I see he has issues in cracking shells or else he wouldnt be drilling holes and having to patch them before pouring bronze. Those are some funky shaped objects around 2:30 so I can see some of it. Or that real head scratcher around 659. WTF is that?
Yep that is Dale, Karen and Jack. Dale does use mainly ceramic shells. He pours a lot of bronze/brass. I’ll ask him more in two weeks if I get out to see him.
Matt, I wanna know what's his method for dewax. Show him this please. I bet he's never seen this before. I haven't cracked anything since going to this method.
Dunno what the sculpture is at 6:59. I couldn't find it on his website. There's a story there for sure. Big respect for someone whose making it work as a day job. His catalog goes back to 2009. https://www.1stdibs.com/art/sculptures/figurative-sculptures/dale-dunning-sophist-ap/id-a_2617273/
I think it's a chick with a frog tail. Making a living off just doing this stuff is a tough row to hoe. I'd starve and be homeless if I had to rely on people buying my stuff. I'm looking for a retirement gig down the road and hope bronze is it. For now, I got bills to pay
Work on my little squadron continues.. Brushed finish High polish on this one.. LoS on this one.. My favorite.
They did turn out amazing! Your favourite is also mine. It has the best detail around the Windshield, Side windows, Aileron and Elevator . But I also do like the shiny. It’s something about shin gives it bling. Finish these off with Johnsons paste wax and an old cotton T-shirt.
Thanks Matt. YUP, I wax them. I apply bowling alley wax hot and wet. Once it hardens, out comes the t-shirt.
