Flames coming out.

    I like a 4" vent, easier to slide ingots in through the lid. You can always cover part of it with a firebrick or something.

    Good point. Might cut down on missing the crucible entirely too! I've probably got half an ingot stuck to the floor of my furnace.
     
  3. Sorry it took me a while to get some pics but here they are.
    1 inch black pipe with a 1 to 1 1/2 bell reducer and 1/8 brass pipe, the orifice is if remember correctly about 0.040

    What psi can the regulator put out?
     
  5. It's rated for 20 psi.

    Bit on the low end. 30 to 80 psi is better. But give it ago and see.

    What metal are you planning to melt?

    I was going to go with a 4" vent then use a 4" X 3" weld pipe reducer over the vent hole if need be.

    I stuck w/ a 3" vent tho so I never tested it.

  8. I'm going to start with aluminum and brass and eventually get into cast iron.
