    Hi all,

I've been a busy boy working on my patent application for my part. Today I'll be submitting it. So exciting.
I have a 6Kg propane furnace but just ordered an 8Kg Toatuo Electric furnace.
This will halve keep things cleaner and simpler.

I made a great new friend on Facebook with 40 yrs of mold pattern making under his belt and he is helping me by making permanent molds using 910 Investment.

I just keep meeting awesome people all over the place. So nice. Guys like @FishbonzWV, @Tobho Mott and @Al2O3

Permanent investment molds? I have only seen single use investments. Or is your friend helping you investment cast the permanent molds?

    Good luck!

    Hey Jeff,

The R&R 910 Investment can handle the high temps of the aluminum so they are permanent or at least semi-permanent

Have you ever done it? Even if the investment can handle it, it doesn't mean you can get your casting out of the mold after it freezes. It can be largely dependent upon casting shape and feature, but the casting will shrink onto the mold features. Permanent mold castings are usually ejected quite hot for this reason.

Plaques with shallow relief....easy. Deep draws....not so much.

    Thanks Kelly,

We're going to give it a try, dusting graphite powder will help release it. It's not a complex part.

Looks like a decent candidate. The more draft on the sides of the deepest draw the better.
