Really ?? That must be very difficult in an open face mold. I thought these fences are made from mild steel / wrought iron bar welded together and only the ornaments being cast and welded to the lattice.
thats how they are made today in America(for America is probably more correct) the best caste Iron work i have ever seen is in washington DC fences and stairs there are pieces of art here is a great example I saw 15 years ago https://dcist.com/story/11/03/20/looking-back-old-naval-hospital/ sadly the pictured fence was replaced with a modern piece...
