Nice to hear from you again Rob and thanks for manning the map duties. I never noticed the index of names before. I see it includes members from BYMC as well as AA. Reading down the list was like a trip down memory lane. Some real characters!

    Andy, you're on it.

Thank Pete! Yeah, I hope this helps fellow casters meet up. This map was the way I found SolarFreak who helped get me going in casting.

Just keeping this fresh so folks know it's here.

Admins, any chance of getting this stickied to the Introductions section?

It's already sticky, no worries about it getting buried. Not sure how to move it under Intros though. I can poke around a bit more and try to see if there's a way...

Done. I left a redirect link in its original location. That will disappear in two weeks and the thread title will only be visible here in this forum thereafter.

    Best,

Sorry guys, I just saw this. I’m more active in the facebook groups, but I’ll try to spend some more time here and get my profile updated.

My shop is at 2602 Campbell Street, Oakland CA 94607

I (unfortunately) live about an hour away, but feel free to put that pinpoint address on the map. My nonprofit (Kinetic Steam Works) stood up a foundry and machine shop in our space (about 8,000 square feet of heavy industrial warehouse) to make replacement parts for our steam engines and the foundry bit has taken off, especially since Sunset Foundry closed.

I never put exact addresses for security reasons. I wonder how many of the guys on there actually still want to even be on there.

I inherited the map from Ryan/Solar Freak, who may have inherited it from Anon?? No clue who the Alloy Avenue admin was before Ryan.

W3 looks to be the first person added to the map, so I can assume he was the original owner. ANON actually comes in further down the list, though I think, if a pin is modified, as I did when I moved to Michigan, it goes to the bottom of the list, since Me, Toolshed, appears way further down than I actually joined AlloyAvenue.

I was the administrator after Anon. My problem was that after Lionel handed it over to me, he disappeared---from everything it seems. And I did not have sufficient admin privileges to fix the site when it went down.

Disappearing seemed to be epidemic on AA. When Anon graduated from college and went to work as an engineer, he just disappeared. Not a goodbye or anything. Just stopped posting. I wrote him an e-mail and got a short reply saying he was up to his eyeballs in work.

W3 is owner of Foundreaming, which has become a meeting place for a small group of old* metal casters who became friends on Alloy Avenue.

*and I do mean old. I am 82 now, too old to handle a #30 crucible of molten bronze.

And thank goodness! As a young* caster (only 61), I'm standing on your shoulders!

  14. Darrow, Washington Twp, NJ 08012, I just found this thread not sure if it's still being monitored although saw Kelly pinned it! Damn cool stuff! Rob, saw you said you work IT further back in the thread. 20 year Network Engineer at Subaru. Got some cool metal going on over here but also with a strict policy of no photos or you're toast!

I also added MIHIT in Auckland.

  17. That's awesome man! Hope you get to enjoy the RE gig and do what you want on your own schedule. My cousin has been doing it on the side for a few years now while also being a union sparky in Philly. He's about to retire early from the union and do RE full time. Thank you for adding me, I don't see it on the map yet but I'm sure it takes some time to sync.

  18. Damn, I probably should have said Blackwood instead of Washington Twp. Since NJ has like 17 of them in the state I thought the map took a long time but it's just got me up to the Northwest of Princeton.

See if I got it right this time. I used the zip code like I should have done before.
