Hello everyone, It's good to be here. Even though I'm not a caster myself I've been interested in the art for a number of years now. Watched a ton of casting videos on youtube and particularly love the VegOilGuy, among others. While I haven't had the capability of getting into the art myself yet, I've begun designing my own jewelry pieces for casting and hope to make some connections here that may see the items brought to life properly instead of simply sitting on my hard drive. Look forward to meeting you all! Cheers
Welcome to the forum WightNight, for casting small items, you might be able to get the local gem/jewellery club to make a lost wax casting of your items.
Thanks Mark! I've been trying to find places locally that would do it but, haven't had much success so far
I would try calling a local university/college with a sculpture program and see if you can talk to someone with a hand on the ladle so to speak. One of the maker spaces in the Twin Cities has a strong foundry and jewelry program (CAFAC), perhaps there is something like that down there.
Welcome along. For the sizes involved in jewellery casting a plumber's torch and small assayers cupel or bowl would get you started, the trick would really be in the moulding, do you have any idea what method(s) you want to use? Slip-casting?
