Hi. I build the Corvair EFI and for years I use Steel tubes and plates that I have laser cut and blind welded. A year or so, I was watching Indians cast on youtube like it was way too easy... and it was. I want to make the TBI top out of aluminum and thought casting might be a good thing. My brother and I have been trying to get a good cast, but it has not worked out. (Sand, petrabond, water glass, etc) I saw Kelly with the lost foam and I was hooked. Getting the things together for casting this weekend. Nothing serious as I made TBI tops with a hot wire and some sandpaper. Nothing to scale, but figure if we can do this, we can build a pin router. Going to use the 3d printer to make my pin forms. "Foaming at the mouth" Ted
All Corvairs are FC, so yes Forward Control. I have 3 Corvair Greenbrier Vans, 2 Corvair Pickup Trucks, and 4 Corvair Cars. If my wife asks, I have two (2).
Hey Ted, Welcome. Happy to help if ever needed. I have a lot of project and equipment build threads in the lost foam sub forum. You can go a long way with a pin router but if you have CAD/CAM skills, a CNC router is very useful for pattern construction too. I'll look forward to your projects. There's another Corvair guy here too. http://forums.thehomefoundry.org/in...am-fail-on-valve-cover.2137/page-2#post-44544 http://forums.thehomefoundry.org/index.php?threads/hoooraaaaay.2157/ http://forums.thehomefoundry.org/in...-valve-covers-with-fine-fins.2237/#post-45735 Best, Kelly
It's all good Ted. I was thinking about the cars when I asked, as I was unaware that there are trucks and vans as well.
