I thought some of you might appreciate this. I came across a video of someone using a hotwire to cut an intake manifold pattern. I'm looking forward to seeing his follow-up videos.
I am wondering if doing it as two halves and skipping the drilling+restringing the hotwire 4x would have make it even easier. I do like where the washer for off-contact was added where the wire needed to linger to keep it from burning at that spot..
I left a comment and give him an A for effort but, I suspect there were several iterations before the successful results shown. Although it does quite expediently produce the generally desired shape, I also have serious doubts whether it would produce the desired accuracy on the runner interiors with wire deflection and that technique. That's why I make mine in halves by CMC router. Best, Kelly
