Jeff, I love your house number plaque! They are my most favourite casting to make. I will be making a house number video in the next two months.

 

Will you be doing them in iron?
Looking forward to to watching the video to see the difference in casting styles.

 

Sorry about that, I use it so much I forgot to explain. I'm on my second 5 gallon jug.

 

Yes I will be pouring the house number in iron.

 

I had a week to work in the cemetery and started resetting the stones.
Samuel's needed raised 5 inches and plumbed.


Elizabeth's was buried in the ground and developed a backward arch. I poured a new slotted base and inserted aluminum angle to act as a brace. Filled all the fissures in the face of the stone.


I'm proud of this one. Took out the tree, repaired the stone and slotted base. Their daughter Melvira.


Raised and plumbed the foot markers and the two headstones.


Repaired the slotted base and plumbed Henrietta's headstone and foot marker. Reset the slotted bases and installed the headstones for three of the babies. I'll have to make a slotted base for the other baby's headstone and 3 bases for foot stones.

 

Poured another plaque to be mounted on the stone.
I really like the new alphanumeric set. They mould exceptionally well.
I remembered to elevate the far end. No rat tail.

Lots of progress on the cemetery.
Finished the Craig children's stones.


Raised all the stones in this picture including the ones not circled.


Also poured some lead pins, 1/2" and 3/8" to pin the finials on top of the spires.

 

That is a beautiful plaque! This is a big job. Good on ya!

More excellent work. I suppose relatives of the deceased must be very very appreciative of your attending these abandoned graves. Are there folks around related to any of the decedents?

In the Humphrey Cemetery.
If there are relatives, I haven't found them. I did reach out on FB to someone that I thought might be a descendant but they have not replied. Maybe they thought I might be a scammer. LoL
Other than that, I don't think anyone in the area knows I'm doing this.

There are three cemeteries, Humphrey, Holley, Edens.
Humphrey bought 1000 acres, must have sold off chunks to the others. All are intertwined by marriages.
The wife is an Edens and has three generations of grandfolks buried in the Edens portion (I think the Humphrey ridgeline cemetery filled up and they expanded).
The Holley, I grew up in town with Holley's. Surprised to find out, these are their ancestors and they know it.
So yes, there are descendants around.

 

You're doing great work, I hope you're getting some support from the families to at least help cover your costs.

I took this project on because I couldn't stand to see this cemetery lost to time. It was pretty close.
We own the land, so I felt it was my duty. I've got a lot more time than $'s in it.

Last trip into the cemetery I discovered this.
Maple tree broke and fell onto the Holley Cemetery.
John Holley, Civil War vet. No damage to the stone.

 

I can tell from what you've shown us it's a labour of love and respect.

 

Major milestone in the cemetery.
The wife showed up so I put her butt to work helping me re-set the last three base stones for the spires.
Used about 700 pounds of gravel to level and support the bases.
Also poured two more slotted bases for foot stones.

 

Two helpers yesterday.
Two spires finished.
