Thank you for accepting me. I'm in Milan, MI, just about 10 miles south of Ann Arbor.

And thank you to Kelly Coffield for sharing his outstanding videos and all the knowledge he shares. Especially posting when things don't go quite right. I spent 30 years in a corporate culture that believed failure was a shameful thing instead of a learning opportunity.

I learned sand casting more than 50 years ago in 8th grade. In high school the door latch release handle on my Dad's old car broke so I cast a replacement using particle board cope and drag, dirt for sand and a piece of pipe with a plate welded on the bottom for a crucible. I got it right the second try. On the first try I found out why cope and drag pairs are supposed to have asymmetric pins. I had coworkers who couldn't believe I kept my failure. I told them it was because I had actually tried stuff.

I want to try lost foam so I'll be pestering people over there. Thanks.

Welcome to the forums! Great picture. Personally I prefer the pins on my flasks symmetrical, but I do have to make sure and look twice before I close the mold back up... :)
