Hey I have an idea for you to ponder. How about making one into a candle holder? Have a few of the tentacles reach up holding candles??
I could see it being used as just the head of a big (but not even close to life sized) statue of H.P. Lovecraft's Great Ct'hulhu... ...or perhaps a life sized statue of a certain type of D&D monster. Wealthy D&D nerds would line up around the block for a life sized bronze Mind Flayer! ("Real" ones don't look anything like the one from Stranger Things) I painted mine for my game back in '07. He's cast in pewter, 32mm scale ie. about an inch tall. Jeff
Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn! For anyone who hasn't seen it and tend to be entertained by Lovecraft mythos, here's a Chick-tract-esque pamphlet http://www.fredvanlente.com/downloads/WhyWeHere.pdf Sorry for the minor diversion, I blame it on madness.
I wish my neighbours on one side were like the old bald guy in that pamphlet....it would be an improvement over the current three generations of oxygen thieves.
I had one like that. Same kind of creepy. Different monsters though. His lived at the UN. He thought Reagan was a commie.
Thanks the comments on the video are nice. I will likely do a bell for him too at some point. Just need to figure out the logistics of making the bell in the right shape first...
Congrats man!! I only had time to skim through the video right now, but I'll watch the whole thing later tonight...
Awesome video, at least the parts I saw, can't watch until I can carve out some time to watch it start to finish. That sounds like something you could collaborate with HT1 on, I think he's got some experience with ship's bells.
Lol, a friend of mine just sent me the link to your video. Says I can appreciate this. Your famous Zap!!!!
It's crushing the joy out of life. I am also getting over being sick. Feeling quite weak/sick still but I will be going back to work tomorrow.
My wife's family has/dad five doctors in it, and my family has one. The Sunday lunch conversations were most interesting, and you can bet that it was mostly about the trials and tribulations of being a doctor. I heard first hand what happens in a day in the life of a doctor, and while it pays well, it is not for everyone, depending on what exact specialty you get into. One friend of mine described how mentally crushing it is to get to know the entire family of a patient, and give a cheery prognosis about heart surgery and recovery, only to have a suture blow out and watch the patient die on the spot. Explaining how a suture blows out to a family is no doubt a life-changing experience; it was for my friend. It is also said that med school is the proverbial meat grinder, that weeds out the weak. I believe that fully. I have always admired those who survive med school. It seems that it is as much about being mentally tough as it is about intelligence. My wife made a "C" in organic chemistry, and so her chances of becoming a doctor ended in one semester. She ended up getting a masters in electrical engineering, but her family always considered her and me "second class citizens", although you will not find more supportive people in the world. And yes, when you get the flu (I almost typed "flue, I think I am coming down with it, my head is spinning like a top), then too bad, people expect you to continue as if nothing were going on. I get what your life involves for sure, and greatly admire your brilliance and fortitude. .
Stick with it. I have a buddy that is a cardiologist, Specialist in internal medicine and angioplasty. He loves it.
