Reuasbale Offset Pouring Basin

    Hey sorry Kelly, I should have been more specific. I made the cup depth in that 3” to 4” range. And I’m not sure what exactly you call that region where you’re pouring the molten metal, it’s like a basin, it has to fill first before flowing over to the sprue cavity. How deep of a pool of molten aluminum should there be before it flows over the “dam”? It looks like around 1/2” but wanted to make sure that was deep enough to catch dross. Or does the depth not really matter? I’ve always heard there are no dumb questions just dumb question askers of whom I am the foremost at times.

    And that all makes sense in the large manufacturing settings. That’s a wealth of information. Thank you

    Ah, I see now. Same as the height of the wier, and yes, about 1/2" above the floor of the pouring well.

    Awesome thanks for confirming this. I need to touch it up a little bit, make sure it’s good and dry and fire it. I’ll have to use my devil forge for that, I’ll put it in a steel can like you mentioned so the flame doesn’t impinge on the CFB.
