Hi chaps, I watched a chap on Utube make is own sand mix up for casting and then showing his results. He was American and used what he called play sand, and some small lump cat litter all mixed together. However he did not explain how he made this mix damp.I was thinking here in the uk we have chinchilla sand which is very very sand, and I would think that small lump cat litter will be available, but what do you use to make it damp. Can anyone enlighten me, thanks, michael

If it was ordinary kitty litter, it would have been moistened with plain old water.

Thanks Rocco, just watched a further video and he used tap water.

I looked that up and it's not silica sand. I think you would be better off with sifted play sand.

Chinchilla Bath House. Bath sand is made from a 100-percent natural volcanic mountain pumice found in the Andes mountains, which is where your chinchilla's wild relatives are from.

Yes I think you maybe right. On reading up a bit went with fine silver sand as it comes dry and not full of water like the others.
