Here are some lifting tongs I made for a #10 crucible.

If I had to do over, I would make them a little more narrow, but they do work well.

I used double screw-type stops, but a single bolt on one side was all I needed for a stop.
The stop prevents excess pressure on the crucible.

The idea was that when the stops engage, the bottom fingers make full contact with the crucible, and the top fingers make very light contact with the crucible.

I did paint them; can't find the painted photo, but honest I did.

Those look like they work great, nice job! Wouldn't want them to look too nice and clean and freshly painted anyhow, or people might think you never use them! :D

I'm with ya on narrower. I like to be able to wrap a hand around the two levers at one time, my brain is in grip mode then. More like a death grip on those two poles. The bolt keeps me from crushing the crucible.
