Octo daddy was packed up in a crate I made and shipped today. I used 4 straps to strap it to a 3/4" thick plywood board using a 3 inch thick foam mattress topper to protect it. Hopefully it makes the journey intact and they don't throw it around. Even though the octopus was only 58 pounds the entire shipping weight was 120 to 125 lbs. Which is pretty amazingly heavy. It should arrive at his house on Friday the 8th.
140 to ship 77 for insurance 30something for special handling fee because its 120 lbs 250 total. I hope it doesn't get stolen, fall off the truck or fall and lose the octo out the side.
Haha no it arrived. He said it came intact and that he is editing my videos. He posted a secretive pic on his Facebook page of the casting process without the octopus. So I think he's building up some suspense as to what it is. I imagine he wants to get it mounted on the wheel before showing pics. We will have to wait and see when he unveils it properly.
Did you see the video where he said the guy that built the wheel (Hugh) died in a car wreck? I thought he would have him install the Cracken on the wheel since it will have to be dis-assembled.
The channel is SV seeker on yt. Not sure which video. Too bad about Hugh. Life is short, make each day count!
Don't think I saw that video but he did email me about hugh. Apparently the wood rim is finished. All that needs doing is the spokes need welding onto the hub. Shouldn't require more woodwork. Just assembly.
Short clip of him opening the octopus starts at 33:03. I think he will add some more video footage of me making it in another video. He said he was going through and editing the footage. So I think that means stay tuned for next week?
True. But I have the molds so I can always make another one. Just need to decide what position to mold it in. Perhaps over some rocks? Hmm
