Still trying to melt 20lb in 20 minutes.......best I can do is 45 I start with large pieces of scrap 3lb or more .....is that to big or does it matter Also the diameter of the plintive ....thing the crusible sit on Is alot bigger the the bottom of the crusible should I make it closer to the same diameter? Sorry spelling and grammar are not my strong point lol A photo of today's castings 22 lb Thanks Todd
The crucible is narrower on the bottom and the plinth should be not wider than the bottom of the crucible. The height of the plinth should be just above the burner entry point. To prevent sticking the crucible to the plinth, put a piece of cardboard on the plinth before melting. It will pyrolyze and the remaining carbon and ash prevents sticking.
