That's quite the build thread........starting in 2014! Looks like you have a good handle on investment casting small parts Dick. Nice work.

If anyone is interested, here is a SolidWorks rendering of our 1.5cc tethered car. If all goes well, it should be capable of speeds well over 100mph. Everything, apart from the engine, is manufactured from scratch. The wheels are turned on my CNC lathe, the body is epoxy carbon/glass made in moulds machined on my homemade CNC router/mill and the tyres are cast from polyurethane. Edit: and the tank is 3D printed!

Kelly - thanks. I actually started building the model about 40 years ago with me at 76 years old it will probably never be finished. I often say there are two types of people in the world, those who get satisfaction from reaching a destination and those who get satisfaction in the journey. I'm in the journey camp and building is what I enjoy. Sometimes my interest in building the locomotive has taken some wide detours, like starting the learning curve on 3D cad, 3D printing, and investment casting about four years ago and for the last 12 years being deeply involved in overhauling for operation the full-sized locomotive.
