I've got a lot of what I think is metal strips that used to be used for type, 4"x 3/4" x 1/16". Don't know what kind it is, tin type, mono type, etc. It bends but not nearly as easy as say lead. Anyone know how to test if it's tin? Thanks, John,,,
Lead tarnishes dark grey within weeks of being cleaned bright, tin has a bright white silver colour almost like fresh silver (The most reflective metal) that lasts for months, and can be bent easily with one hand, like the rim of pewter drinkware which is 95% tin. Type metal is lead, tin and antimony and in some cases it has bismuth. The only way to know for sure what it is to test it with an XRF gun.
