I would need to see more of the manual to figure out how to go to external controls. But this is a basic wiring schematic I give my customers.

This drawing is for three wire control, but can be applicable for two, two wire controls, using a drum switch.

Cool. I'm guessing the first drawing is straight to motor and the second is for the drum switch? Is it really that easy?
I'm going to go peek under the skirt of that drum switch. God help me.

You’ll have three wires going in and three wires going to it. Two of the three wires will get switched through the drum switch for Ford and reverse. You will want to label these just in case.

Your common will go to one of The in terminals and two of the exiting terminals that get switched you’re going to grab both and send them back to X1 and X2. If they differ from your expectations you can switch the two later at the VFD.

  5. Yep that's a typical vague crappy manual, judging from your photo in post number 100, there are default programmed options straight out of the box. I'm assuming you'd need "momentary" pushbuttons connected for those X1-X6 functions.

I personally think they are latching controls which would work perfect with a drum switch.

  7. If that's the case they could at least draw a rotary switch in the diagram to give some certainty as having multiple latching switches would conflict with each other.

I'm still looking for some better info on this POS.

Another stupid ass question.... I'm still reading up on this, but how do I tell if I'm wired Star or Delta? Is this found on the motor or in the rotary switch?

  10. That's on the electric motor terminal box.

Jason you’re dipping into something over your head. There European Delta and Y connections and there are US Delta and Y connections. Here is the first few pages of the Bible.

lol... F that!! Looks like good reading next time I'm on a 4hr haul across the gulf.

I wired the VFD direct to the motor and nothing is on the switch anymore..
Speaking of the switch, found a diagram in its cover.

  13. That looks like the reversing switch: if you swap any two phase wires, the motor direction will change. There may be another diagram under motor terminal cover.

There wasnt another diagram.:( I did take photos of the numbering. Its wired for 230vts.

    Jason:

There should be numbers on the wires inside the motor junction box. The numbers will either be printed directly on the wires themselves or on a tag on those wires. If you're talking to an electrician, this motor junction box is almost universally referred to as the motor pecker-head. If you can send us a picture of the motor name-plate, and tell us which wires are connected together, we can probably tell you how the motor is currently wired. (Star or Delta, the Star configuration is also referred to as a Wye connection.)

I Googled XSY-AT1 manual and came up with this:
    https://www.bitchute.com/playlist/bCvR3rGBbHQb/

I've got no idea if the manual will help or not. It looks like you've got more reading for your 4hr haul across the Gulf. I also found several threads on the CNC forums about this particular VFD, so there might also be some info there.

It looks like this VFD is set to a default maximum of 50Hz. Once you do get it running, if you're in the States you'll need to change that parameter or you'll never get your desired full speed out of the motor.

    peckerhead....lol
It starts at zero hz and will crank to 65hz with the rheo so I think that part is good. I love those kind of links. Semi sketchy looking arent they? When you try to register, it asks for a cc #.. Yeah I don't think so.

Here is the plate. They are hooked up per the low voltage diagram. It was easy to verify as the numbers are very legible.
    This help?

Yeah I know the vfd in this video is different looking, but it's essentially the same. Same crappy instructions:rolleyes: Rolling metal does a decent job explaining this. He used common and X4 to switch it on/off and that switch on his machine doesn't appear to be momentary so that's cool. I asked him if I wire common and X5 to the other side of my barrel if that would work to provide reverse as planned.... I am slowly wrapping my head around this... I think.

yeah yeah yeah.. dont judge. It works for testing and I got it to switch on and off in fwd only for now.:D

You got it Jason. That is called a two wire control latching switch. If you want to use the drum switch, this is how it’s wired. Sorry about the bad drawing. From your PDF, it looks like if you run the purple wire to X5 terminal that should be reverse.
