I have several crucibles that are just too big for my backyard casting. They measure 7 3/4" OD x 9" high so approximately A16. They are unused from a research foundry. They appear to be a sintered silicon carbide, so more robust than the more typical clay/graphite/carbide mixtures. I'm willing to trade for smaller crucibles. I'm looking for A4 to A6 size. If you don't have something to trade, make me an offer.
No reasonable offer refused. Now considering unreasonable offers too. These are nice units in new condition, I'd hate to have to throw them out!
I would love to have them but the shipping from Canada would be ridiculous. I would have some alloys to trade if you needed any, Manganese, Chrome, Molybdenum, some Ferro-Silicon and Silicon.
...to a wonderful new home! I'm pretty sure that's an A20 on the far left. Then 3 A16's... No luck so far deciphering what the pattern number means. and 3 bilge shaped #12's. They all look like they were touching other crucibles and had to be cut apart from each other at some point in the manufacturing process. Maybe that's normal? All these so far are silicon carbide clay bonded (not sintered SiC as mentioned above) and to my knowledge they are meant for nonferrous. I believe they're all made by Vesuvius, but maybe that's only the A16's. Next there are 2 Morgan clay graphite crucibles, an A12 and an A2. The A2 has a Salamander label on it, but is that the same as an iron rated "Salamander Super"? Nothing but Morgan as the brand name for the A12 clay graphite. It came from Foundry Supply Source in Milton, not from the aluminum research foundry that originally owned the silicon carbide crucibles Guess I better get to work making tongs and shanks! All for a couple used A6's and a few little fireclay crucibles about the size of the A2 that have been sitting on a shelf gathering dust. Somebody pinch me! Thanks again @G3j! Jeff
