One day, I will try my hand at lost foam. Seems to me, I need a way to vibrate a bucket of sand. So,...

The wrench is almost buried in 10 seconds.

I clamped a 3/8" plywood board between a couple of 2 x 6 bocks onto the bottom of my drill press.
Then I attached a 3/4 hp motor to the end of the plywood, added a spring support, and hub with a chunk of steel for eccentricity.

I follow Makercise on YouTube. He uses something similar for a sand vibrator. I want to say his may be a small DC motor - but it's certainly a motor-with-off-centered-weight arrangement.

I wonder if having differing levels of vibration would allow you to submerge your part at one level and then compact the sand at another level.

Looks good to me. Just make sure that eccentric is well secured. You can probably tune that with the length of the board and position of the bucket. The mass of sand will affect the system too but if has enough action to sink the wrench it should be effective......and much more so than just wrapping the bucket.
