Good info guys. Thanks. I guess I will make an offset pouring cup. Here is follow up after machining square and flat. Those are the worst pics showing annoying porosity. Still a very solid and usable casting. Robert
If you do, it's easiest if you make them from 1/2" fiber board like a smaller version of the large ones in my thread on them. The 2600F board is a little better because it's denser and more durable. You will still need at least a tube of the moldable ceramic fiber to glue it together and fillet the corners. Those flaws look more like entrained air than H2 porosity. Are they on the surfaces that face upward in the flask? Pouring cup and some tweeks to the feed system will help/fix that. Best, Kelly
