    I'm new to foundry work.
I'm a mechanical engineer and I have access to a lot of materials and tools through work, so I thought I'd make a waste oil/diesel burner and furnace and see where it goes.

  2. Hi Laekelu, welcome to the forum!, there's a lot of member's projects that can provide a wealth of data to help you with your project. Ideally you'd work out what metals you want to melt and how much, then work backwards from there.

Hi Mark, thanks for the warm welcome! I have been doing a lot of reading, and I'm planning on aluminum for the time being, but I'm going to make my furnace and burner iron capable just in case I run into a project I need iron for, like an obscure part on an old piece of farm equipment. I do have one project planned, a bending die for my bender. It'll be a solid 12" dia. by 2.25" thick disc. But I'll start with some smaller items to get familiar with the process.
    Regards,
    Lars
