Hello Sam, I am a sporadic foundry man also....just when I really need something I can't buy LOL. I have done some small investment casting (rings in aluminum just to try steam assist) Now I am struggling with some lost foam for a complex 2 stroke cylinder for my vintage motocross bikes. (i may just make all the core boxes & patterns for the project & get back to "easy greensand" casting) I am on the west coast of Michigan between Muskegon & Grand Haven. if you don't have it already. I can highly recommend Ammen's book on investment casting. He has dozens of recopies for investment & many world class tips on patterns & the whole process. C.W. Ammen he has a few books out there.
Where in Michigan? I am in Harrison, Middle Michigan myself. Check out the member Google map and see if anyone is close to you. https://forums.thehomefoundry.org/index.php?threads/google-map-of-casters.1350/ I am also one of those WHENEVER kinda casters. Too many hobbies.
