    Thanks you for the approval!

My name is Betsy, and I am a 35 year old female working at a small foundry in Auckland. Originally from Kansas. I married a New Zealander and he is also a hot rod nut! I handle Pouring, Moulding, Cores, Fettling, Quality Control, and Shipping. I own a 54' Ford Customline and love the hotrod life. Use to sell Craftsman tools. I love learning new skills, art, and collecting hot rod parts.

  4. Hi Betsy, welcome to the forum. The pour photo looks interesting, what's the white crucible made from, a coating over steel?. I'd be curious about the resin you use to bind the sand too, I'm in Australia and it's getting hard to buy no bake resin sand binder (along with anything foundry related) so I'm always looking for alternatives.

Hi Betsy, welcome. For the last 24 hours or so, Auckland's been in the news here, you've been having quite a weekend there, I hope you're staying dry.

Mark, I'm pretty sure that's a ladle not a crucible. The white you see is a stiff ceramic fiber insulation liner for the steel pot, it's just used to transfer molten metal from the furnace to molds.

  6. I should have been more specific, it's definitely not a crucible but it's not something I've seen before in my limited experience.

Google "ladle liner" and you'll find several examples, generally speaking, it's not something a hobbyist would use.

You are welcome, Besty. I think you'll fit in just fine around here.
