New sculpture

i recently started a sculpture for a new body of work to be cast and wondered if anyone would be interested if i documented the process for the forum? Is this something worth doing or is it not really the direction you want thehomefoundry to go in?

Another question would be that although the final piece will be cast in bronze using ceramic shell moulds this is only a small part of the complete process and i was wondering (if there was interest) where would i put the thread? I realise that it could go in the 'investment casting ceramic shell method' discussions but as other sculptors on the forum know, there are so many other processes in making artwork that would not be applicable to this title.
For example, starting with the design/maquette stages through to scaling up on a pointing machine and onto making the final half-life size model ready for silicone moulding. Then onto the wax work, shelling, pouring, cleaning, welding and finally patina.

As you can see, it touches on many different processes (some we have forum sections set up for) but there would be a lot of info not relevant if it was put under a general heading such as 'investment casting ceramic shell method' for example. It would also be disjointed if i were to post in separate relevant sections.

Do we have a place for something like this already or can something be created?

All of this is assuming that a thread like this is something the forum would like. Would it be more suitable at AA where there are already similar threads?
    waddya think?

I really like the artist's casting threads. In addition to the creativity and beauty of the master artwork they always have sensible and clever approaches to making one-off castings which is interesting to me because I learn things I can apply to making one-off machine parts. Who knows, one day I may even try my hand on the art. High risk/reward for art casting.

Rock and roll John. DO IT MAN! I need some edjumakshun from a pro! I enjoy picking up tips and tricks. Will you video it too? I know a good free editor... Shotcut
If I can work it and make it do the basics, you'll have no problem at all.

Not sure youve every read any of my threads or comments before!?! There will be NO learning on my watch!

There may be clever things i show but i can guarantee you they will not be my ideas. As for sensible, i didnt quit a job in engineering and spend years in art school to do a job paying less than minimum wage for you to call me sensible!

Edjumakshun from a pro..... Please see previous post.

Video would be quite useful to demonstrate many of the different aspects such as setting up the 3D pantograph (pointing machine.....precursor to a 5 axis cnc machine) and a bit of sculpting, welding and patinas but i really am clueless when it comes to shooting video, never mind editing. We'll start with photos if thats ok and see how it goes.

Is this refering to me? I dont remember meeting you but we've clearly met before as you seem to know me quite well. Or maybe my reputation preceeds me?
Yes, a future thread from me will be a test but let me assure you that it will be a greater test for anyone trying to read it than it will for me to write the ensuing waffle.

Oh yeah! There's no place for patternmaking either, these are essestial parts of foundry work. Maybe a 'making stuff to make molds of' area? Ok that is a terrible name but you get what I mean...
