Steve Chastain Metal Casting Vol. 1 Has a chapter on flask Hardware

    one of us must own this book,
    is the info on Flask hardware anything mind blowing
    should I drop $20?

    Here is a pic of the Chastain hardware from my copy.

    I can think of worse ways to spend that 20. It's kinda interesting, chills are used to cast the precision surfaces of the pin guides. There is little to no draft on some sections, according to the instructions.

    Each set (2 per flask) has 3 castings and a 1" pin and the book says little machining is needed.

    The hardware for the cope shown in the pic is larger than the hardware on the drag, and I would not be surprised if it caught an annoying amount of sand during molding and striking off.

    The guy from the Hillsgun channel on YT uses Chastain's flask hardware and matchplate vibrators (from the same book). He has started using a different pin hardware design more recently (I think because they catch so much sand, but I wasn't able to re-find the video where I saw him explain why as it was some time back when I saw it) but in any case you can see the Chastain hardware in action here:
