Terrible metallurgy.

    Watch this amusing video to see what I mean. Do they really make tall buildings with this stuff?
     
  2. All of those steel samples failed on the bends, those thicker steel samples had a bend radius was way too tight for the heat treated bar which would explain the breakage. We have to use 500MPa tensile steel reinforcing in Australian buildings so bending and welding can affect the strength properties but you can see what happens if the fabrication rules aren't followed. As for the fake plastic reinforcing that looks like the real steel from a distance, it's almost as if they spend more time and money than using the real steel. The fact that fake steel is actually available as a product is crazy.
